Adolescent treatment for orthodontic problems is the ideal time. The jaws are actively growing & facial profile can be slightly modified during this time while the teeth are being straightened.
It is the perfect timing for getting braces because, first dentist/orthodontist can intercept some severe & abnormal formation of the jaw bones and wrong positioning of the teeth. We can monitor unwanted shifting of the teeth as well as the growing jaw. Interception & correction of early stages of malocclusion is easier. Correction on the other hand can be challenging when crooked teeth already positioned themselves in a significantly small jaw. Another example is spacing, moving teeth close to each other to eliminate the gaps can have its own challenges along the way.
Second, it is during this time that most of the kids in school get their braces done. Problems of bullying & name calling is not that big issue during this time because most of them at their age are wearing some metal braces, teeth colored/zirconia braces or just aligners. Though it is at this age that they tend to be sensitive just about everything that happens in their lives. Some teens worry about being called too "genius" that's why they don't want to get braces even they were advised by their dentist.
You're a teenager? Struggling to smile because of crowded or spaced teeth? And if you think you need braces, consult your dentist or if you were advised by your dentist that you need braces, get it done because this is the right time for you. Good timing has never been better, its the best.
